Adapted from George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy saga "A Song of Ice and Fire," "Game of Thrones" was filmed across various breathtaking locations in Europe. Spain emerged as a pivotal setting for the series from Season 4 onwards, capturing the imagination of viewers with its diverse landscapes and unparalleled beauty.
Enthralled by Spain's rich tapestry of geography and topography, the show's location scouts found an ideal backdrop for bringing the world of Westeros to life.
From the ancient streets of Braavos to the sun-drenched shores of Dorne, from the imposing cliffs of Dragonstone to the majestic Dragonpit of King's Landing, Spain became the canvas upon which iconic cities such as Volantis, Meereen, Casterly Rock, and the Sacred City of Vaes Dothrak were vividly brought to life.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Barcelona and transfer to the Hotel. Explore the City in the afternoon

Upon your arrival at Barcelona International Airport, our driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and it boasts a wonderful location by the Mediterranean Sea. You’ll be amazed by architect Antoni Gaudí’s works, such as the Sagrada Familia Basilica, but also by the creativity and unique energy of this city. This afternoon, you'll have an introductory tour of Barcelona with our guide.

Day 2 - Rental Car collection and day to explore Girona

Today, you'll pick up your rental car and drive towards Girona. The beautiful historical town of Girona is an example of historical preservation and that did not go unnoticed by the series production team. The production knew that they had their Season 6 Braavos. From the Iron Bank to being chased by the Waif, Arya Stark got to know every single narrow street of Girona, and now is your turn to do it. On top of that, the city was also used in a few scenes as King’s Landing, particularly its Cathedral, that served as the High Sept as Jamie Lannister interrupts Margaery’s walk of shame.

Day 3 - Departure towards Navarra region

Today you will be headed towards the Bardenas Reales Desert in Navarra. The first thing that will cause an impact on you is the unique nature of the rock formations in the area. They are featured extensively throughout Season 6, as Daenerys is captured by the Dothraki hordes and taken to Vaes Dothrak. Upon the burning of the camp and liberation of the people, it is also here that the Khaleesi rallies her troops in the famous speech on top of Drogon.

Day 4 - Departure to San Sebastián

The next destination will be the País Vasco. Home to some beautiful coastal towns, where the erosion caused by millennia of water currents hitting the coastline has created the fish scale looking rocks that you see here. The return of Daenerys to Westeros was filmed in a combination of two beaches, Zumaia and Getaria, and trust us, the amazing sensation of touching the sand of Westeros just like the Khaleesi did is any fan’s dream!

Day 5 - Explore the Basque Coast

This will be your last full day in the País Vasco, and we cannot let you leave without going to the outskirts of Dragonstone. Unfortunately, the castle is computer-generated, but the incredible pedestrian walkway to San Juan de Gaztelugaxte is absolutely real! The beauty of this location will certainly impress and produce a great memory of this trip to Spain.

Day 6 - Departure to Cáceres

Today you have a long drive ahead of you. Once you reach Cáceres, we suggest that you take a look at the Arco de la Estrella and the Plaza de Santa Maria. These were used as the entrance to King’s Landing in the scene of Euron Greyjoy’s triumphant arrival with the captured Sand Snakes.

Day 7 - Drive to Sevilla

The drive towards Sevilla is filled with fun Game of Thrones-related sights to see. We recommend a stop and visit of the Trujillo Castle, used on the show as Casterly Rock, and the planes nearby are where the unforgettable loot train attack takes place. Before you reach Andalucía, near the town of Zafra you will find one of the most iconic locations on the show, the Tower of Joy. For a true fan, the birthplace of Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen is something that you cannot miss!

Day 8 - Explore Sevilla and enjoy a Flamenco Night

The great Andalucía capital has been a great filming location for years, and in Game of Thrones, it has been primarily used as Dorne. You should visit the Royal Alcazar and its gardens, home to Prince Doran Martell as well as the Maria de Padilha Baths, where Bronn is imprisoned with the Sand Snakes. Also, in Sevilla are the Roman Ruins of Italica. This is a beautiful location on its own, but once you enter the former Colosseum you will immediately know that you’re in the Dragon Pit, where the first meeting between all of the players for the Iron Throne takes place. This evening, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a live Flamenco show at a local tablao in Sevilla.

Day 9 - Excursion to Córdoba

It is time to head towards Córdoba. Instead of taking the most direct path, we suggest that you first travel to the town of Osuna. Entering this town’s bullring will actually mean that you’re entering the Daznak Fighting Pits in Meeren. This is a very cool experience that really transports you to one of the most iconic scenes on the show. As you enter Córdoba, you will notice the beauty of its Roman bridge. It was used to create the only moment during the whole show when you can see the city of Volantis!

Day 10 - Departure to Sevilla Airport

Today you will leave your hotel in Sevilla with our private driver and proceed to Sevilla airport, where you’ll embark on a flight home. Have a nice flight!

Highlights

Explore Girona

The Free City of Braavos provided the viewers with a great change of pace and architecture. The Catalonian city of Girona and its old buildings and narrow streets were just perfect to embody the beautiful Braavosi buildings. It was also by the steps of Girona’s Cathedral that the High Sept was recreated when another walk of shame is interrupted by Jaime Lannister.

Highlights

Visit the Basque Coast

Did you know that the walkway to Dragonstone is real? Or that the amazing fish scale looking rock formations as Daenerys returns to Westeros for the first time in years is also real? Sometimes what we think that can only be a special effect, is nothing more than a combination of neighboring special places. Getaria, Zumaia, and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in the Basque Country will certainly amaze you as you touch the sand of Westeros for the first time in the same fashion as the khaleesi!

Highlights

Flamenco Show in Sevilla (show and drink)

Feel the spell of this intangible art, considered as immaterial world heritage, performed live, in a traditional venue in Sevilla.

Highlights

Visit Osuna village in Sevilla

Did you know that the Daznak Fighting Pits in Meereen were filmed in a bullring? The town of Osuna in Andalucía was the perfect location to film this iconic scene and with some production design magic and CGI extensions, the monumental Colosseum that you see on the show started to gain shape.

Highlights

Discover Sevilla

The Kingdom of Dorne may not have been one of the most thoroughly explored in the series, but every time it appeared on screen, its sumptuous gardens and palace interiors were a feast to the eyes. All of this was only possible because of the unprecedented access provided by the government of Spain to one of its most iconic monuments, the Alcazar Palace in Sevilla. Almost no changes were made to the interiors since this building is fantastic on its own!
